Canon Powershot vs SD970is SD990is – which is best?
I'm going to travel soon and want a small portable camera (something that can fit in my portfolio pocket) that produces quality photos. I will buy it from Costco, but I'm not sure that "Point & Shoot" model to get. I feel like Canon PowerShot might be the best camera of the bunch (though I may be wrong – I know nothing about photography). I think I'm torn between 2 different models at this time – the Canon Powershot SD990is and SD970is. Does anyone have any idea what may be the best camera? I can not see too much of a difference between the two, apart 14.7megapixels have the 990is and 970is with 12.1. Thanks so much!
The SD990 beats the SD970 in terms of image resolutions (14.7 vs. 12.1 megapixels) and manual mode. However, the SD970 has some features that the 990 lacks. First, have a little bit bigger image sensor so the image quality is slightly better. Secondly, it has more optical zoom (5x vs 3.7x). Thirdly, its LCD has more resolution (461,000 versus 230,000 pixels). Finally, you can capture high-definition movies. About the size, they have almost the same dimension. (WxHxD) 3.73 x 2.24 x 1.04 inches – the 970 (WxHxD) 3.81 x 2.45 x 1.10 inches – the 990 if I were you, I would go with the SD970. Unfortunately, the SD970 is more expensive. PS.
